Slay the Gods: All Is Real, All Is Remembrance

This is a commemorative side story about Jinian, written on a whim. It won’t be very long.

It follows two timelines. One continues directly from the original novel’s ending. The other takes place before the main story begins, during the first few cycles. So you’ll need to have read the original novel’s side stories first.

Jinian is the only female character from a novel I’ve read who has really stayed with me. The idea for her came from a novel I idly imagined when I was in high school.

The heroine in that story also had silver hair, and, more importantly, her abilities worked in much the same way.

The general idea was that she embodied an origin created by the strongest being in existence to stabilize itself. She was immensely powerful, but also extremely prone to losing control. She tended to turn her opponents directly into pixels, though she could also create things out of pixels.

Of course, this side story has little to do with that. The new abilities in it are borrowed from another novel I had been imagining. I originally wanted to use this short piece as practice, but then decided against it. University coursework is pretty demanding.

Since the story involves some of the rank classifications from Replicated Mirror, here’s a brief introduction to its system:

Newly entered Leaf Pattern, Fifth Rank / God King: Peak Main God

Leaf Pattern, Fifth Rank / God King: Supreme God

Leaf Pattern, Sixth Rank / God Emperor: Half-step Ascender

Leaf Pattern, Seventh Rank: Ascender
