Just then, an old man led a group of people past the place. They not only took care of the dead villagers and buried them, but also moved into the locals' homes and rebuilt the village. It took many discussions with the officials before the names on the property deeds could be changed!

The old man was a Daoist priest who had come down from a mountain. After divining my fate, he told me to become his apprentice, and I learned the arts of Yin and Yang. In the end, he even arranged for me to marry a child bride, who would appear once I came of age and explain the whole story behind our karmic ties. My old master said her figure and looks would certainly not disappoint me, though she was a little hot-tempered. And that girl is Mengmeng…!
