The protagonist overcomes one obstacle after another, only to eventually realize that it hasn’t even begun. His mind falls apart. Perhaps it’s all an illusion. He can no longer tell what’s real, can’t see the road ahead, and is left confused and dejected.

This story spans quite a long period, and its early writing style differs from the later chapters. The beginning can feel rather slow, so please be patient and keep reading. The pace starts picking up after chapter 10.
