Set in a modern city, the heroine, Su Yao, is a moderately well-known screenwriter in the film and television industry, specializing in military-themed stories. The hero, Gu Ming, is a retired special forces officer and former comrade of Su Yao's older brother, Su Che. Su Che died during a border operation three years ago. After being discharged due to severe injuries, Gu Ming has avoided contact with the Su family, until Su Yao approaches him to research her new screenplay.
