(Pure historical romance, mutual redemption, loving someone is like tending a flower, a very short happy-ending story)
The third son of the Qiu family, Qiu Mo, is said to be cold and sharp-tongued. Though born into a prominent family, extraordinarily handsome, and serving as Vice Minister of Justice, his infamy is so widespread that children cry at the mention of his name. None of the young ladies in the capital dare marry him, leaving Qiu Mo still single at twenty-eight. He doesn’t mind at all and enjoys his freedom.
Old Master Qiu can’t stand to see it any longer, and finally decides to choose a daughter-in-law from among his subordinates’ families. The marriage arrangement falls to the Ning family.
But the Ning family’s legitimate daughter would rather die than marry, so the matriarch of the family resorts to a bride swap, sending the concubine-born Ning Yi to marry in her sister’s place.
Ning Yi is already unloved at home, so she grits her teeth and accepts the marriage. After they wed, she gradually discovers that Qiu Mo is a gentle person at heart.
And so Ning Yi and Qiu Mo come to know one another, understand one another, and fall in love.
Qiu Mo’s perspective:
At first: The bride’s been swapped. She seems a little shy. What can I do? I’ll spoil her.
Later: Ning Yi, you are the precious jade in my heart!
