This book is based on the Revolution of 1911, which overthrew the rule of the Qing Dynasty for more than two hundred years (which also overthrew the rule of the feudal dynasty that lasted for thousands of years), and uses some historical events in China's modern history as the background. It tells the story of a family member of a clergy (mainly female) who received Western religious education in the early Republic of China. Different historical periods, political environments, living and educational environments, and different ideological concepts led to different life changes, mixed sorrows and joys, and completely different endings. From the basic knowledge of Western Christianity to the tremendous changes in China after the reform and opening up; from the feelings of being bullied by foreign powers to the rise of New China, and from the living conditions of wealthy families to ordinary civilians, it reflects the social life of the past century. In the literary masterpiece "A Dream of Red Mansions", a sentence written by Cao Xueqin can be used as the concluding sentence of the book's introduction: "When the truth is false, the truth is also false, and when the false is true, the truth is also false." It can be called "Zhen Shi is hidden, and Jia Yu is in the village."
