The protagonist, Lin Yi, was an ordinary survivor until he was infected by a zombie’s fangs and mutated into an S-rank zombie whose appearance is indistinguishable from a human’s. He possesses extraordinary strength, speed, and regenerative abilities, but keeps his identity hidden and survives quietly in the darkness of the apocalypse. He knows that if his unique nature is exposed, neither zombies nor humans will spare him.
Thus begins Lin Yi’s journey of keeping a low profile. He weaves through the ruins, evading high-ranking zombies while cautiously approaching survivors in search of food and supplies. He uses his mutation to help survivors through crises, but never reveals who he really is. He longs to find a cure for the virus and become human again, but the darkness of the apocalypse has taught him that survival is the only truth.
In this zombie-infested world, Lin Yi does nothing but keep his head down. But fate won’t leave him alone. As the story unfolds, he is drawn into the tangled struggles between humans and zombies, and between survivors themselves. His identity gradually comes to light, and he is plunged into one crisis after another as high-ranking zombies hunt him down and survivors grow suspicious of him and try to use him.
