Two Years Apart in a Military Marriage: The Lovely Wife Joins Her Husband and Has a Baby

[Military marriage in the period setting, substitute bride, devoted to each other, sweet romance, everyday family matters, raising children, face-slapping]

Yu Niannian opens her eyes to find she’s become the pitiful supporting female character in the 1970s novel she was reading before bed. She’s a married woman who hasn’t even seen her husband in the two years since their wedding.

“Big sister, just agree to go to the Cheng family. You’ve been married for two years. Even if you didn’t know your brother-in-law existed, he’s still your husband. Now that you know, you should go back to his family.”

She’s spent her time looking after her younger brother’s family, only for him and her younger sister to plot together to marry her off to the man her sister didn’t want.

Yu Niannian refuses to accept the marriage. She’s not out of her mind!

She decisively leaves behind her deceased parents, her timid younger brother, her domineering and selfish sister-in-law, and her sister with her protagonist’s golden finger. She heads to the capital to divorce the man she married two years ago, whom she’s never seen alive or dead!

Yu Niannian is set on getting a divorce, and waits for the papers year after year!

What she doesn’t know is that someone never even filed the divorce petition.

Gradually, she realizes this man treats her differently. He cherishes her above all else, and whatever she asks for, he always comes through!

Everyone says Cheng Xiaoting is cold and aloof, with only duty to his country in his heart.

Only Yu Niannian knows that he wears a stone-cold expression in public, but turns into a devoted puppy in private!

Her younger sister regrets her decision and tries to win Cheng Xiaoting back, but he throws her out.

[Cheng Xiaoting says: My body belongs to the country, but I offer my heart to you with both hands.]
