Reader's Guide
First, this is a journey of self-preservation by a depressed pessimist. It involves suspense, the supernatural, reflections on death, and spiritual cultivation in the modern city;
Second, the early chapters closely explore the protagonist's journey to enlightenment, with plenty of material on religion, psychology, and philosophy. If you find the story a little slow, you can start with his cultivation after he returns to the human world in Chapter 16. Give the book a try: it may offer you a fresh perspective, or perhaps bring you peace of mind, tranquility, and the strength to keep moving forward;
Third, there are no absolute rights or wrongs in the ideas presented here. Each person is a world unto themselves, and what suits your circumstances is what is right and useful for you;
Fourth, I hope we can grow stronger together through this book. Thank you all ^_^
Chen He’s family has been Christian since his grandfather’s generation. When he was a child, he went to church with his parents every weekend. As he grew older and learned more, however, he went to church less and less. He felt that Christianity, Buddhism, and other orthodox religions all ultimately sought to cultivate the heart. As for whether God or Buddha truly exists, as many people say, they exist if you believe in them. But objectively speaking, who can give an irrefutable answer?
But now, Chen He is lying face down on the ground, praying over and over in his heart: “Father, save me! Please forgive my sins!” At last, he understands why religions, faith, and gods have existed ever since humanity began, even in this scientifically advanced age. In the face of the unknown and of death, faith is humanity’s final comfort and refuge!
