"The Legend of the Tang Dynasty" is a long historical romance novel in the Ming Dynasty. One of them is "The Biography of General Ping Xi of the Xue Family", "The Biography of Ping Xi of the Mixed Tang Dynasty", and "The Later Biography of the Tang Dynasty". There are eight volumes with thirty-two chapters, the first five chapters of the volume, a total of thirty-seven chapters. The title "Zhongxing Bojing of Jingling compiled it, and Li Zhi Zhuowu of Wenling participated in the editing" may be a false trust. It was written in the late Ming Dynasty.
The content described in this book is mainly divided into three parts: first, from the first five chapters of volume one to the first and second chapters of volume one, which tells the story of Xue Rengui leading the army to conquer the west and defeating the Liao Dynasty to protect the country; second, from the third chapter of volume one to the tenth chapter of volume three. The third chapter, from the eleventh chapter of volume three, ends with the story of Yang Yuhuan gaining favor, An Lushan's rebellion, the Mawei Incident, Guo Ziyi's quelling the rebellion, and Jiang Fei's return to the Forbidden City. The content is complex, the history spans a long way, and gods, monsters, and martial arts are integrated into the historical romance. The plot is tortuous and euphemistic, the descriptions are vivid and touching, and the writing is clear and the imagery is flying.
