The Yin Bride

Grandma said that from the moment I was born, I had less yang energy than other children. To make up for this strange deficiency, I had no choice but to inherit her craft and become a “yin midwife.”

Yin midwives revere Chen Jinggu, the Holy Mother who Obeys Heaven, as their founding master. They specialize in delivering babies and possess four signature skills: “receiving yin,” “returning yang,” “dragon-steering,” and “scissor work.” At the simplest level, they ensure a safe pregnancy and delivery, keeping mother and child safe. At the most profound, they can cut off karmic ties so the sins committed by adults won’t bring punishment upon their children.

The tradition of midwifery has been passed down for millennia, with countless taboos. One yin midwife will reveal the childbirth taboos passed down by our ancestors!
