The Ming clan are descendants of the founding heroes of the Great Liang Dynasty. Two hundred years ago, they fought to establish the empire alongside its founding emperor, and generation after generation, their family has held high office. But what sets the Mings apart from other great clans is the eight-character family motto: “Do not be bound by convention or constrained by ritual.” It dates back to the dynasty's founding, when one of their ancestors married a female general from a humble family. From then on, the belief that “women, too, can make their mark on the world” became part of the Ming clan's very nature.
