Su Wan moves into Wutong Lane in the old district of Jiangcheng, wanting nothing more than a quiet, peaceful life.
But her landlord, Lu Ze, insists on disrupting her peace.
He leaves a light on for her during typhoon nights, cooks her a bowl of hot soup when she works late and comes home, and when she stubbornly says, "I'm fine," he gently strokes the crown of her head and says, "I've got this."
Su Wan thinks it's just a landlord being considerate to his tenant.
Until one cool evening, with a gentle breeze blowing, he corners her beneath a parasol tree and asks softly:
"Su Wan, how much longer are you going to treat me like your landlord?"
