My parents forced me to move back to the countryside, and I saw how backward things still were here.
The villagers had to spend a great deal of time and effort just to buy a few things in town or the city.
I steeled myself and opened a large supermarket with my own money, stocked with everything anyone could need.
Everyone praised me, calling me a living bodhisattva.
But then my younger sibling said:
“Everyone, stop going to her store. Her stuff costs so much more than the city supermarkets. She's ripping off ordinary people like us.”
“Don't worry, our stuff is guaranteed to be half the price of hers. From now on, come to our supermarket. We would never make money at the expense of our conscience.”
After that, everyone in the village went to the supermarket my younger sibling had opened.
I looked at the pile of cheap fakes in their store and smiled.
Go ahead and buy them. Just don't regret it when something goes wrong.
