Jiaojiao Has Stopped Chasing Him, but the Cold Prince Is Panicking

Situ Yan's father is a great general of the Great Yan Kingdom, commanding a powerful army. She has enjoyed a life of luxury since childhood, and the only thing she has ever loved is Crown Prince Wei Chen, with a passion both ardent and steadfast. She gets her wish and marries Prince Jing, Wei Chen, full of hopes for a sweet married life and careful to please him. At first he is cold; later, they occasionally share moments of harmony. She assumes he simply isn't good at expressing his feelings.

Until one day, she happens to see Wei Chen treating another woman with tenderness and care, his eyes full of affection. In that instant, her heart shatters and she suddenly understands: he was never naturally cold. She was simply never the one in his heart. She feels like a defeated soldier fleeing the battlefield, crushed by the enemy. To preserve the last shred of her dignity, she can only flee in a panic.

Two years later, she happens to hear someone say, "Ever since Prince Jing's consort went missing, he's grown even more unhinged." Then one day, Wei Chen suddenly appears before her, his eyes red as he grits his teeth and says, "Situ Yan, how could you be so irresponsible toward me?" Situ Yan glares at him, but Wei Chen softly coaxes her: "Yingying, now that you've had your fun, it's time to come home. The prince's residence needs you, and the child needs a father too. If you'll come back, I'll listen to you from now on." Situ Yan is stunned. How is the Wei Chen before her anything like that aloof prince? His eyes are full of pleading, with even a hint of sorrow.
