God. It's as confusing as a dream, strange and gorgeous, and the fate of all living beings and history hangs on a thread.
It's so well written, a stroke of genius. The chrysanthemum of the imperial grandmother, the human skin of the imperial doctor, the white ghost jumping on the table, the white bird flying high, the wandering concubine Hui, and the "I" that floated and fell several times... Constitute such a strange and lingering dream. I like this story. It is full of imagination and the author's talent. Teacher Su Tong's writing really has a sense of... Decadent dampness. It has a unique and unique style. It reads smoothly. The imagery and techniques are so professional. It is a work of brilliance. Read it, enjoy it, and give it a five-star rating.
I am King Xie. When I stand on the other side of history, watching the black panther flag symbolizing power rise and fall, watching Peng Jun's blue helmet stained with blood, witnessing Concubine Hui flying to the sky like a white bird carrying the fragrance of orchids, and watching future generations lament over and over again about my ridiculous and majestic imperial career, I still walk alone on the rope between two jujube trees, looking through the last treasure of my life under the dim light of the bitter bamboo forest. That black panther jade jewel has been pressing on my chest for eight years. After I saw the sky outside Daxie Palace, I exchanged the bargaining chip that was unbearable for its weight and light as a feather for my new life. The little white ghost that harassed me every night passed away with the overthrow of the dynasty, leaving only the bloody creeping grass that dried on my palms. I am King Xie, I am an artist, and I am a bird. I am an abandoned son abandoned by Xie Kingdom, and I am the creator of this history. In those years, that "The Analects of Confucius" and that story were still narrated to the clear rain in the bitter bamboo forest.
My imperial career ended in the eighth year when I became King Xie. My half-brother Duan Wen spared me. From now on, I become a commoner. Common people of Daxie Kingdom. I came to Yanlang's hometown, Caishi County. On the way, we encountered robbers and all our finances were looted. Yanlang lay beside the ditch, crying in pain. I helped him up and indifferently picked up a volume that had been trampled by donkey's hooves - "The Analects of Confucius". To me, this was another kind of providence. I had to take him into exile. My temporary stay in Caishi County ended with Yanlang drowning in the river, and I left Caishi County. I traveled hard all summer just to find the vaudeville troupe, but I missed them. The vaudeville troupe only performed in Qingxi for one day before heading south to find a peaceful world to set up camp. I know that they are getting farther and farther away from me, maybe they have crossed the border and entered the closed country. I sat on the temple steps of Baoguang Pagoda until dark, and I felt a deep sleepiness. My loyal servant Yan Lang came to me along with Shu Se, and I hugged him wordlessly. In the past, like flying birds, I have never sat opposite him like this now, hugging each other and crying. Later, I became the "Zoo King" in "The Secret History of Xie Palace". After defeat and siege, our plan to perform in Beijing fell through, and our invitation to death fell through. Peng Guo's soldiers massacred them violently, and blood and flames bathed the Daxie Palace and people's eyes. My tears fell into the dust for the first time. I came to Kuzhu Temple where Master Juekong passed away. I walked the ropes during the day and read at night. I finished reading "The Analects of Confucius". The moment I closed the page, the words jumped out of the page and appeared in front of my eyes in a flash of white light. I saw my young self reading in the morning at Jinshan Hall. I know that my career as an emperor begins here. I heard myself saying to my young self, "Read more slowly." Unexpectedly, a flock of herons stirred up, leaving behind a gray and sparse guano.
I kept scrolling through Douyin to see the screenshots about this book, and found out that 🍅 was there, so I read it. This book also requires VIP. This is a book that needs to be read calmly. The content of the book makes people think deeply (the review contains spoilers, so read with caution) I have to admire Su Tong's amazing writing power. Many of the environmental descriptions and psychological descriptions in the article are very personal. The whole text gives people a slightly depressing feeling, just like the white ghost that has been lingering around Duan Bai; it is also like the floating powder, but the strong fragrance reveals a rotten smell. Many of the descriptions are shocking, accompanied by indescribable emotions, perhaps sadness or emotion. I think at the end, in Kuzhu Temple, Duanbai was alone and finally grew up. At least he finally finished reading "The Analects of Confucius". From the prince to the emperor to the common people and the walking artists, everyone around Duan Bai left one by one, leaving only him in the end (Fei Hui may not have died, but they probably will never meet again). Is this his misfortune or luck? This is a first-person narrative work. Duan Bai is a cold-blooded, ruthless and ignorant person. Of course, he has also grown, but maybe he grew up too late. The first-person perspective can easily bring people closer and make people empathize (some of Duan Bai's actions are really creepy), but it also has drawbacks. With the limited viewing angle, I couldn't help but wonder, what was Duan Wen thinking when Duan Bai ascended the throne? What was Mrs. Huangfu thinking when she revealed the secret before she died? What was Duanwen thinking about before he died, having become both a king and a subjugated king? ... This is also the charm of the first person, allowing us to think, so that everyone has a unique opinion. The fate of many people in the book is staggering. This is the absurdity of fate. It is indeed an "imperial career". He is a "king" in heaven and on earth. Recommended reading
It's so well written and has a ghostly style... I read it in one sitting and it has great staying power... Duanwen, Duanwen, I hate your tyranny, ignorance and cruelty, and all the bad things you do. I hate why Duanwen let you go and didn't kill you in the first place? But I actually feel sorry for your sad fate. It is your fate that the young man is king, and it is also your misfortune. Rather than saying that you are an emperor, you are more like a confused young man trapped in a dragon robe, full of deformed relationships. You fantasized about becoming a bird. Only after you escaped did you realize that the people hated the birds the most and brought the plague. Suddenly I began to feel glad that you ended up in the same troupe with Yanlang and the little girl Yusuo. Very good at writing.... Very dank and rotten writing.... In the end, you are the only one left. Duan Bai, I suddenly don't want you to die. How about you live a long life? Just continue to read the Analects of Confucius with your sins and see the world clearly.
Why did Su Tong write about getting along with Yanlang in such a touching and pathos way? It feels like there are quite a lot of metaphors. The black panther flag of the Xie Kingdom is called Duan Bai's "I", and it is destined to end in "black and white cannot be tolerated" from the beginning. Quite pretty.
The story lines of each character are very artistic. A generation of emperors became a ropewalking artist, the loyal Yan Lang crushed the jade lock to death, Concubine Hui who walked like a bird became a nun and fell into prostitution, and finally sold Duan Bai's poems and notes.
I don't know which place is better, but it just feels like it's good everywhere. Delicate writing, grand ending.
The dialogue inside gave me a kind of innocent cruelty. In the early stage, I kept repeating one sentence, "The disaster of Xie Kingdom is about to come." Repeat the technique. Su Tong's writing style is so good. This book feels a bit like The Kite Runner to me, but Duan Bai is more cold-blooded than Amir. Amir will repent and suffer, but Duan Bai is more like an outsider.
It took more than two hours to read the life of him and other characters in this book from an honest perspective. When I saw the death of the Yang brothers, I felt a layer of pain in my heart. In fact, when I explained my thoughts about the severed finger earlier, I was looking at his innocence and cruelty. Until the end, I no longer know how to describe him. He was unfortunate and lucky. He was not suitable to be an emperor but he was pushed to that position. Therefore, He has awareness of the conspiracy and suspicion of others... I don't know who to feel sorry for. In this book, there are always people who make me feel that they should not die, and there are always people whose endings make me feel that they should not be so... Whether it is Duan Bai, Yan Lang, the Yang brothers, Duan Wen, Li Yizhi, Yusuo, Zhang Zhi, Concubine Han, Concubine Hui... Too many, too many people. Just like how readers described Teacher Su Tong's writing when I first read this book, it was dank, gorgeous, and even sticky. I personally feel that Teacher Su Tong's words make me feel more like a ball of cotton wool slowly soaked with blood and stuffed into a person's chest. It is dull, fishy, and makes people unable to think. I'm a little disgusted that my language is so poor that I can't describe it accurately... Will watch again——2026.8.13
This book makes me feel like I have only a body of skin, as if it will dissipate if it is blown by the wind... Duanbai's cruel innocence... The youth is king, Duanbai's innocence and wantonness of children, the repressive and treacherous court, and the country's power as if dark clouds are overwhelming the city. The combination is too scary... It is obviously a childish boy's tone, but reading it makes my spine shiver...
The literary style is gentle but rich in connotation, and it touches the soul directly. It is a good work and deserves to be savored carefully! Like👍👍👍
On the meadow of the pale sea, thousands of birds sing in the evening, and you too make me feel sad, thinking of the ancient times.
I think it's very good. After reading it, I still have endless aftertaste, whether it's Duan Bai's violence and innocence in the palace, or walking outside the palace, the freedom and yearning for birds, and finally inhabiting Kuzhu Temple, amidst the silence and ghosts, I suddenly spent my life. Looking back on the past and thinking of your grand and dramatic life, will you remember the lights of thousands of houses and the dancing fish and dragons on the eighteenth day of the twelfth lunar month with Yan Lang?
I thought I would cry, but there wasn't a tear. I was thinking that chaotic people are the most ignorant, hateful and pitiable. Being a sober person is painful but understands, just like living a lifeless life. But I also saw my own problems and was very frightened. Everyone has different feelings after reading it. I want to say that this book is really worth reading.
I have so many mixed feelings that I can't express them in words.
It's pretty good, and the emotions are expressed well.
The eerie feeling, the prosperity and decay of the dynasty, and the cold-bloodedness of the emperor are all written down with a gentle Jiangnan style, hazy and cold but extremely cruel and sad.
How was it written?
God, Su Tong's writing style is so amazing
Fortunately or unfortunately, it is up to you to decide
Go watch this, weird
There was only one sigh after reading it.
After reading to the end, I thought of "Life is between heaven and earth, but suddenly it is like a bird perched on a dead branch."
The bitter taste in my mouth became stronger and stronger, as if I had chewed on a rotten piece of wood to build a decadent dynasty. I vomited and vomited like crazy until there was nothing in my stomach.
The first chapter of Chapter 3
Good looking. Alas, Duan Bai.
Incomparable and irreplaceable
