Modern career elite Shen Zhao transmigrates into the body of Lin Wanzhao, an unfavored bedchamber maid in a general's manor, and is bound to the Reverse Mission System. To unlock skills like Masterful Tea Arts, Medical Expertise, and Silver-Tongued Eloquence, she must complete missions such as refusing the Third Prince Shen Zhaoyan's advances, making His Highness ask to see her, and exposing her scheming cousin's fake sweetness. Gu Chengyuan is a leading contender for the throne. On the surface, he is flirtatious, cunning, and carefree, but after his mother was framed and killed, he became deeply aloof toward matters of the heart. At first, he uses Lin Wan as a pawn, but as she carries out missions and turns the tables on him, he is gradually drawn to her cool, resilient nature. Su Huairou, the sweet-faced cousin who is the Chancellor's daughter and Gu Chengyuan's fiancée, grows jealous of Lin Wan's special treatment and frames her for stealing a prince's jade pendant. Lin Wan turns the System mission into a trap to lure her out and expose the truth about her forged evidence. Lin Chuqing, a scheming concubine-born daughter of the general's household, competes for the bedchamber maid's position and frames Lin Wan for attempting to murder the mistress of the house. But Lin Wanzhao uses her medical skills to uncover traces of poison, and Lin Chuqing is driven out of the manor. Though the two are secretly in love, their missions lead to misunderstandings: Shen Zhaoyan thinks Lin Wanzhao is getting close to him to help him seize the throne, while Lin Wan believes he sees her only as a pawn. Their pursuit-of-the-wife drama unfolds in memorable scenes, including the heroine refusing to see His Highness and him kneeling in the rain to beg her. At last, she completes the final mission, making His Highness give up his bid for the throne, and the two retreat from public life together, saving each other in the process.
