Your Majesty, the General Says He Only Wants to Be Your Empress

The world is split into four warring kingdoms, plagued by constant conflict.

Helian Changfeng was once the most cherished prince of Nanxiao. He never imagined it was all part of the emperor’s scheme, or that even his beloved birth mother would be falsely accused of adultery. As a result, Helian Changfeng’s blue eyes, once seen as an auspicious sign, came to be regarded as a curse. After a war left him a hostage in Beili, his feminine beauty made him the target of endless humiliation at the hands of the powerful in that foreign land. At last, on the cusp of adulthood, he returned home.

But no one wanted such a disgrace to come back. Helian Changfeng knew that none of his brothers, his father, or even his own people wanted him home. But he was determined to return, even though he was afflicted with a deadly chill poison and had only eight years left to live. He was determined to make himself, a lowly prince, ascend the highest throne and trample everyone beneath his feet. So he set his sights on the general who always wore a silver mask: Pei Ji.

But just as he was trying to win Pei Ji over, he discovered that the general was the one who had killed his uncle. Helian Changfeng then set out to kill the general and avenge his uncle, but as they spent day after day together, he realized there was more to his uncle’s death than he had been led to believe.

Once the misunderstanding was cleared up, Helian Changfeng knew that as long as he won Pei Ji over, he would be well on his way to claiming the highest throne.

To that end, Helian Changfeng promised, “If the general is willing to help me win the succession and take me to the imperial throne, I will grant you the position of The Outcast, second only to me and above all others.”

Pei Ji: “Your Highness needn’t be so formal. Once you ascend the throne, just make me your empress.”

Helian Changfeng: …???
