Kaifeng, a child from Rogge Town, went to sea alone, encountered a giant ocean beast, and unexpectedly awakened the Overlord's Haki. He was taken on board by the Red-haired Pirates, and became a trainee pirate of the Red-haired Pirates. He was adopted by Beckman as his adopted son, and was his childhood sweetheart with Uta. On the Island of Music, when Uta fell into a coma, he pulled out the knife on the wall and rescued Iregia. In Windmill Village, he made an agreement with Luffy: after Luffy goes to sea, Kaifeng will come to the Luffy spaceship as the deputy captain. As a trainee pirate, he learned Haki and swordsmanship from Shanks.
