Apocalyptic Ruins: I'm Actually a Test Subject!

“Ruins” is the respectful name given by the new humans who survived the apocalypse to the world they once lived in.

The streets that were once bustling are now covered in dust.

Abandoned cars sit along both sides of the road. The ground is pitted, and toppled skyscrapers lie across the horizon, blocking a sliver of sunlight.

Broken rebar juts out like the spears of generals, thrusting into the hearts of their enemies. The ruins are full of danger, with blades flashing and shadows darting.

And lurking in the rubble, more than anything else, are predators.

Their mouths hang slightly open as they pant softly, their cold eyes fixed on their prey without pause.

Waiting for the moment their prey lets down its guard, they leap up and launch a savage attack.

“Squish!”

A loud smack rings out as a huge foot drops from the sky and stomps on the predator. It hits the ground, eyes rolling back, barely breathing. Only then does the owner of the foot let up and allow it to escape.
