This book tells the story of Lin Yu, a progressive student in Shanghai in 1942 who resolutely devoted himself to the anti-Japanese cause after witnessing the tragic death of his compatriots. He was absorbed by the underground party organization of the Chinese Communist Party and lurked into the Japanese and puppet spy agencies under the pseudonym Chen Mo. In a crisis-ridden environment, he dealt with cunning enemies and obtained important intelligence. During this period, he partnered with female agent Su Yao, and the two developed a deep relationship. They have gone through many tests and resolved crises many times. During an operation, Su Yao's traces were exposed and Su Yao was arrested. Lin Yu endured grief and conveyed intelligence about the enemy's conspiracy to encircle and suppress important strongholds of the CCP's underground party organizations. In the end, Lin Yu successfully helped the organization avoid heavy losses and became an anti-Japanese hero.
