The people of the fallen Ryukyu Kingdom build a drifting nation atop nine giant wooden rafts in the Indian Ocean...
Chu Shaotang was a special forces soldier in the Western Theater Command of Zhongxia, and a 70-kilogram combat champion. He fought foreign troops with cold weapons in the snowy mountains. After retiring for personal reasons, he became a sailor.
On a long voyage, he catches the eye of a passenger named Xia Yulan. Later, after an extraordinary encounter, he is cast adrift in the Indian Ocean’s Sargasso Sea, where he reaches a vast, dragon-shaped raft that serves as the capital of the Liuqiu Kingdom. He is hired as the kingdom’s chief military instructor and falls in love with Shang Wan’er, the chancellor’s daughter. When a spy’s machinations put the capital in danger, he leads troops in an attack on an enemy island to save it, but they are defeated. He and Shang Wan’er escape to an offshore tribe of the Liuqiu Kingdom, where they train a stronger army and pit their wits and courage against the enemy chief and his forces. After defeating the enemy, he hopes to teach the people Zhongxia’s language, but the King of Liuqiu plots to kill him. He is later chosen as the island’s leader and plans to lead its people back to their homeland.
