Lin Xiao is a transmigrator living in the Jiangnan region of Great Qi.
On a late autumn night, a male ghost latches onto him, threatening to claim his life at midnight seven days later.
He sends a message to the local government office for help, but is met with indifference by a female constable.
Lin Xiao was an orphan who earned money by writing. After being admitted to the Jiangnan Academy, he thought his life would go smoothly, but he bumped into a young man and received a note, after which a ghost began haunting him.
After making inquiries, he learns that the ghost is a senior at the academy who was bullied and jumped to his death.
With the deadline drawing near, Lin Xiao refuses to accept his fate. He brings ten carefully prepared scarecrows to a desolate graveyard outside the city, hoping to reconcile with the ghost, but fails.
Furious, he resolves to fight the ghost to the bitter end.
Though in grave danger, he never gives up his will to survive!
What an ass you are
