Why Does This World Seem So Much Like Dragon Ball?

A beloved childhood classic, Dragon Ball holds a huge part of my childhood. I spent countless hours at the book-rental stalls, and once had a book confiscated by my teacher for sneaking a look during class. I had to save my lunch money for ages to pay it off. Back then, education didn't encourage kids to draw comics or anything like that. With today's educational outlook, maybe I could have become a great comic artist?

I often copied Uncle Toriyama's drawings of Goku, Vegeta, Majin Buu, and others on the flyleaves of my textbooks or wherever else I could. The first Dragon Ball volume I saw was the one where Android 19 appeared, and I still vividly remember Yamcha's death to this day. (Some translations call him Yamu Tea or Yamucha, but I'll stick to the name I remember.) I won't use the original manga's character names in this book. The broad story will follow Dragon Ball, but most of it will be original, retelling the story of Dragon Ball in a fantasy style. Above all, I want to pay tribute to Uncle Toriyama. Rest in peace.
