The Crown Princess Is No Fool

When they were young, everyone in Great Chu said that the dashing, astute Crown Prince Chu Qiyu and Su Yixue, the Grand Tutor’s clever and graceful daughter, were a match made in heaven.

But later, the greatest joke in Great Chu in a hundred years was that Crown Prince Chu Qiyu insisted on marrying Su Yixue as his Crown Princess, even going so far as to endure a beating and defy the Emperor for her.

That was because everyone remembered only that Su Yixue had become a fool. Only Chu Qiyu remembered that she had become one for his sake.

His Xiaoxue had turned back for him, and he was more than willing to humble himself for her.

On their wedding night, Chu Qiyu tried to coax his little wife to sleep, but Su Yixue pulled a small booklet from her arms and asked him to play a game with her.

“Xiaoxue, let’s play when you really understand the game!”

“Mother said someone might get angry if we don’t play.”

“No one will bully you while I’m here.”

“Mother also said that playing this game is the only way we might have a baby.”

The perfectly normal Crown Prince couldn’t resist his Crown Princess’s temptation. The next day, the little wife, sore all over, cried and said she never wanted to play that game again.

The not-so-normal Crown Princess of the Eastern Palace spent every day waiting for the Crown Prince to finish court so they could eat and study together. What did she care about the palace women vying for his favor?

Inside the Eastern Palace, the Crown Princess was a fool, and the Crown Prince spent every day looking after one.

Outside the Eastern Palace, the Crown Princess was gentle and virtuous, the Crown Prince refined and courteous, and they behaved with perfect propriety.

But really… you tell me, does that sound like a fool?
