To raise the betrothal money for her younger brother, Shen Zhiyi was pressured by her family, who favored sons over daughters, into marrying Li Guodong, a notorious slacker who lived on the edge of town. She had three children, but they inherited their father's lazy, self-indulgent nature and lack of ambition. Shen Zhiyi spent her later years in misery.
One day, she woke up to find herself reborn on the day of her engagement.
This time, Shen Zhiyi resolved that if she couldn't choose a different husband, she would at least avoid repeating the mistakes of her past life. From now on, she would learn to let go. Women could be affectionate and complain when they were hurt, too. She would turn all the tricks his family had used on her against Li Guodong: praise him lavishly, manipulate him, and if one approach didn't work, immediately try another. She'd bring every trick in the book to bear until she found one that suited him.
Shen Zhiyi: “Brother Dong, you're amazing!”
“Brother Dong, how are you so capable...?”
“Brother Dong, you're incredible! How are you so clever? Brother Dong...”
Shen Zhiyi: “Men care about their pride, so I give them plenty of it. I make sure to meet their emotional needs and give them full marks.”
Li Guodong was utterly captivated by Shen Zhiyi's admiration and her constant calls of “Brother Dong.”
Li Guodong: “My wife admires me so much. I can't let her down. When I see the admiration and hope in my children's and wife's eyes, I can't disappoint them.”
And so Li Guodong became the model husband across the entire region.
The writing is quite good. I like this rural style. I can change my family's situation through my own little efforts.
I enjoyed reading this book and was very satisfied.
