Zhang Xu was completely ordinary, from an ordinary family in Northeast China, with ordinary Northeastern parents. He worked in another province and occasionally went home for Lunar New Year to visit them.
Sometimes, when he had a couple of drinks with his parents, the old couple would reminisce: if his father had gone north with his army buddies to become a border trader, or if his mother had taken the family’s savings to Hainan with her colleagues to speculate in real estate, would their lives have turned out differently?
Now Zhang Xu thinks he can answer them. They really would have, because he woke up one day back in his eighteen-year-old self in a parallel world, where he’s now a rich kid studying abroad.
His father, Zhang Qingmin, really had become a border trader after leaving the army in the 1980s. His business kept growing, and he eventually used his connections to help China hire plenty of “Russian engineers,” which also fueled the rapid expansion of his “scrap metal” business.
His mother, Tian Chunlan, really had taken some of the money Zhang Qingmin made and gone to Hainan with a friend to invest in real estate. They sold early during the boom, getting out unscathed and making a fortune.
Zhang Xu now has two things in mind.
First, he knows he isn’t cut out for a government job. But after spending more than ten years at work in his previous life and putting up with his boss’s nonsense, can he make it as a businessman and become an entrepreneur like the founder of JD.com?
Second, after spending more than thirty years in his previous life being a good, honest man who never amounted to much, Zhang Xu has decided to set his scruples aside and enjoy a life without shame.
Family business model. Haha, how many family businesses have become stronger and bigger?
Everything can be bought and sold in front of capital
