I Fell Madly in Love After Marrying My Archenemy

Devoted Secret-Admirer Bottom ✘ Cold, Stubborn Top

Yan Yu'an, heir to the Yan family, is rumored to be sickly and frail. His doting grandfather finds him a same-sex partner said to bring him good fortune: He Zhishu. One is a cold-blooded family heir, the other a rising star in business who keeps his edge hidden. They play a loving couple in front of the cameras, but maintain a polite distance when alone.

At a charity gala, reporters press He Zhishu for “details about their relationship.” Yan Yu'an suddenly slips an arm around his waist and smiles down at him. “He has a weak stomach and stays up late. Does that count?” The flashes erupt in the audience, and He Zhishu hears his own heart racing.

When a crisis hits the family, Yan Yu'an proposes a “fake divorce” to keep He Zhishu safe. The night before they are due to sign, He Zhishu pins the papers to the table and leans in close. “Yan Yu'an, did you think I was only pretending?”

The touches beneath their suits, the whiskey they share in the study late at night, the umbrella they hold together in the storm: the details of their “performance” have long since given rise to genuine feelings beneath their restraint. (Later, there will be a groveling pursuit of his wife.)
