Has the Empress Been Kind Today?

At the emperor's first selection of consorts after ascending the throne, the young women all prayed that they wouldn't have to marry the old emperor, but would instead be chosen by a young prince.

Jiyun was the only one left with a head full of questions: Don't you think marrying a prince is risky? What if the emperor gets angry and has them executed?

Later, Jiyun happily married the old emperor. He said to his young bride, “Do you miss home? If you do, I'll take you back for a visit.”

Jiyun grinned from ear to ear. “Oh, that's an option?!”

The story starts out lighthearted, then gets angsty later on.
