Zhang Hanyan is a novelist,
immersed in the world of words,
and still single at twenty-four.
Her parents are worried and arrange one blind date after another!
She meets all sorts of weirdos.
She can’t stand blind dates.
She avoids them whenever she can and runs whenever she gets the chance.
One day, her mother gives her an ultimatum:
one last blind date,
and if it doesn’t work out, she’ll stop pressuring her.
Grinding her teeth, Zhang Hanyan agrees to go.
But she loses track of time.
Her mother calls to hurry her along,
so she jumps on her electric scooter
and is stopped at an intersection by a traffic cop,
who says she’s broken the rules and needs to be penalized.
She pleads with him, but to no avail:
the traffic cop still writes her a ticket!
Fuming, she glares at him,
but the cop just laughs.
That makes Zhang Hanyan even angrier.
She pays the fine and leaves,
cursing him to a lifetime without a wife.
When she arrives at the blind date,
she discovers that her date is that young traffic cop.
Furious, she’s ready to walk out.
But the young cop says
that if their blind date works out,
he can pull some strings for her in the future.
She thinks that sounds like a pretty good deal.
Who knew…
