Ruan Qingfeng knew he was going to die. Before the end, he thought back on his past.
In his memories, he searched for that little sun, the person he could never reach, the one he had loved alone.
As he wandered through his memories, Ruan Qingfeng grew anxious. This was his last chance, his only chance, to see that person again.
He pushed open the door to his memories, and sunlight streamed in. It was the sunlight Ruan Qingfeng loved most; he had always loved basking in it. Beneath that cherished sunlight, the person he loved most stood with their back to him.
That person seemed to be reading. Ruan Qingfeng thought back to that time: they really had been reading, those boring novels.
He had once asked why they liked reading them. The person had smiled and tapped themself, saying it was something to pass the time.
The person standing with their back to Ruan Qingfeng suddenly turned around and smiled in his direction.
Ruan Qingfeng’s eyes grew hot, and tears began to fall.
Goodbye, my love.
Let me lose myself in these memories a little longer, just a little longer, a little longer still...
Primarily told in the third person, with occasional first-person narration.
This is Ruan Qingfeng’s memoir.
Ruan Qingfeng loves Nannan. Nannan doesn’t know that Ruan Qingfeng loves them, and never finds out, not even when Ruan Qingfeng dies.
Ruan Qingfeng loves Nannan alone. Nannan never loves Ruan Qingfeng, not from beginning to end.
Nannan does not love Ruan Qingfeng!!! (Take note!)
A short story about unrequited love that ends in heartbreak, tinged with a quiet sadness. If that’s not your thing, consider yourself warned.
A tragic bad-ending story.
