[Second Male Lead Takes the Lead, Mutual Healing, Both Pure, Short Story]
This was the seventeenth year Shen Anran had known her childhood friend and neighbor, Xu Haoshan, and the seventh year she had been sure of her feelings for him. Anyone could see that Shen Anran loved Xu Haoshan with all her heart. Only Xu Haoshan kept playing dumb, enjoying being loved and pursued.
“Hey, are you really not going to get together with Anran?”
“Get together? If I wanted to be with her, I’d have said yes ages ago. I just want to keep her dangling. Maybe when I get tired of playing around, I’ll say yes. It’s not like she’ll run away.”
Just before making her eighth confession, Shen Anran overheard Xu Haoshan talking with a mutual friend. She resolutely deleted every way of contacting him and walked away without looking back.
I love you, but I’m not blinded by love. I’m a person, and I have my dignity. You don’t have to love me back, but you can’t trample on my sincerity or my dignity.
Shen Anran left, and Xu Haoshan went out of his mind.
Xu Haoshan: “Shen Anran, come back! I’ll be with you!”
Gu Huaiyuan: “I’m sorry, who are you? What do you want with my wife?”
Xu Haoshan: “Shen Anran, you’ve got some nerve! Where did you find this random man!?”
Gu Huaiyuan: “You’ve got it wrong. Ranran and I… are legally married.”
From Shen Anran’s perspective: married first, fell in love later.
From Gu Huaiyuan’s perspective: after years of devotion, he finally won the woman he loved.
A few rambling thoughts from this good-for-nothing author:
I want lots of update requests, lots of comments on chapters, lots of reviews, and lots of adorable readers. Writing to an empty room makes me miserable, drives me crazy, and makes me daydream in broad daylight…
I am happy to celebrate my remaining years
