Her mother gives Bai Lian half of a silver lock and tells her to find her birth parents. Her aunt wants her to marry a scoundrel, but her uncle helps her escape. She meets Zhao Lei and follows him into the ancient architecture trade, and the two become a couple. Building in the traditional style brings one challenge after another, and the business is eventually shut down for rectification because of its materials and environmental impact. While traveling, she happens to see a child wearing the other half of a silver lock, which finally leads her to her family. As it happens, they are researching materials for traditional construction, and they help the couple start over and get back on track. She eventually becomes chairwoman.
