The Twilight of the Gods

Fanfiction of Slay the Gods, with an original ensemble cast. "We are the ones chosen by dusk, destined to face eternal falling within the rift." In the Great Xia Nightwatchers' classified archives, the seven members of the "Dusk" team still wear purple-black cloaks misted with the blood-red dawn. Captain Huo Yiran and deputy captain Leng Qinghan, incarnations of the laws of judgment and destruction, once tore apart Cthulhu's tentacles in their divine forms. In the end, they became a sky full of golden-red fragments. Beneath He Yan's black veil, her shattered face used one last spatial fold to open a path to survival for Lin Qiye. The nightmare witch Guan Shanyue, dragging her bloodstained courtly nightgown, pulled Chaos into a midsummer night's dream from which it would never wake. In the streets of Cangnan, rock music in the earbuds of Jinwu's heir Chen Tianci drowned out the wails of the dead. Qin Suizhou, last descendant of the Ying clan, had his floral shirt soaked through with incantation curses. When heart disease ended a twenty-five-year-old's life of giving up, when those flirtatious peach-blossom eyes were extinguished by the backlash of a Forbidden Ruin, seven coffins formed an arrow formation in the morning mist, piercing the darkness. When Lin Qiye, now commander-in-chief, ran his fingers over the gold-embossed files, their last traces of ordinary warmth remained in the group photo: Huo Yiran's red lipstick print on her husband's Tang suit collar, He Yan's Lolita skirt brushing the glass window of a dessert shop, Chen Tianci walking close behind her, Guan Shanyue placing an eternal full stop on her unfinished manuscript, and Qin Suizhou smiling and flashing a peace sign at the camera. "They never lost to the Outer Gods," Lin Qiye said, gazing at the gold lettering on the memorial. "They were simply trapped in the dusk forged by the human heart." To be continued
