I'm Out of Books to Read...

Are there any books where the protagonist doesn't have to go wherever there's danger, and isn't constantly singled out? No face-slapping or deliberately picking fights, and the protagonist shouldn't have to drive the plot. Especially no stories where every problem requires the protagonist to step in. I'd like a more ensemble-focused book.
