This is an action-packed spy drama about a hot-blooded young man settling scores, and an epic tale of a hero who grows from a chivalrous man steeped in Chinese culture into a soldier of the Party.
The protagonist, Zhang Bei, is a young student whose entire family was slaughtered by the Japanese invaders. He swears to make them pay for the blood of his fifteen loved ones. Armed with a Mosin-Nagant sniper rifle with its stock cut off and using locusts that carry out Heaven's punishment as his signal, he spends fourteen years hunting down the men responsible for wiping out his family, across Fengtian in the puppet state of Manchukuo and beyond. In this lonely, protracted war of resistance, his path is not only fraught with danger, but also heartbreaking.
