The story takes place in Twilight City, a city shrouded in haze in modern times. Twilight City is located on the edge of a remote mountainous area, surrounded by mountains, with inconvenient transportation, and seems to be isolated from the world. The architectural styles in the city are mixed, with ancient temples and European-style buildings crisscrossing each other. However, they are dilapidated due to years of erosion and neglect of repairs, and are filled with an atmosphere of decay.
At that time, the society was in turmoil and the economy was in decline. People sought spiritual sustenance in hardship and confusion, and superstition was prevalent. Various goddesses and wizards are swindling in the streets and alleys, claiming to be able to exorcise evil spirits, eliminate disasters, and change fate against the will of heaven. In this chaotic time, a cult called the "Blood Lotus Sect" quietly emerged. They use a strange lotus blooming in a pool of blood as a symbol, preaching that the end of the world is coming, and only by believing in the Blood Lotus Virgin and offering human sacrifices can they gain salvation.
The Blood Lotus Cult has many terrifying taboos. For example, believers are not allowed to go out during thunderstorms. Otherwise, it will be regarded as a blasphemy against the Holy Mother and they will be punished by being skinned and cramped. They frequently held secret rituals in abandoned ancient houses in the city. In the ancient houses, candlelight flickered, and the believers gathered around a stone platform painted with evil runes, chanting words to push the abducted innocent people to death.
