Schemes of the Palace: The Villainous Imperial Consort Must Clear Her Name

Plot: Su Wantang, a modern graduate student in traditional Chinese medicine, transmigrates into a book, becoming the villainous “Poison-Hearted Noble Consort” in The Phoenix Perches in the Golden Palace. The moment she wakes, she triggers the “Calamity-Bringing Seductress System.” Completing villainous missions such as framing others, competing for favor, and poisoning earns her rewards like improved medical skills, treasures, and useful connections. Fail, and she suffers agonizing punishments like “smoke pouring from all seven orifices.” To avoid the original story’s ending, in which she is executed at Meridian Gate, she appears to play along with the schemes while secretly using her medical expertise to resolve each crisis. She clears herself of poisoning the Empress Dowager by using acupuncture to save her from poisoning, then wins an ally by using medicinal cuisine to restore a disgraced princess’s health and help her conceive. She also strikes a “mutually beneficial” deal with the flirtatious prince Xiao Yan. Juggling the System’s missions and the relentless schemes of the scheming Empress, she uncovers the shocking truth that the original character was never truly a villain. In the end, she turns the tables on the System and rises to become the winner of the palace power struggle.
