He’s Asking for Trouble

It turns out that unknown beings exist in this world alongside us humans, including spirits (the supernatural), demons, and people with special abilities. There is a mysterious organization that specializes in handling supernatural incidents. Its members generally don’t do charity work: they get paid for the job. These members are known as “psychics.” Psychics usually operate at night, using weapons and talismans to capture spirits or demons. Weapons recognize their owners and are acquired through repeated hunts. Given enough time, their users can awaken spiritual power as well. Spirits (the supernatural) generally fall into three categories: vengeful spirits, lingering spirits, and malevolent ghosts. Vengeful spirits are those who died unjustly and cannot be sent on because their resentment is too strong. What happens next depends on the spirit’s motives. If it only seeks revenge and has shown no intention of killing innocent people, the organization’s rules say it can be swayed and sent on. Otherwise, it must be eliminated. As the name suggests, lingering spirits are held back by an unfulfilled wish. They usually died with something left undone or someone they could not let go of, making it impossible for them to move on. Once their wish is fulfilled, they can usually move on by themselves. Malevolent ghosts are just what the name implies: they have lost their human reason. Filled with immense resentment, they devour lesser ghosts and are extremely difficult to capture. The organization naturally sends out its top members to deal with them: “super-psychics.” Zhao Si is one such “super-psychic.” The girl’s name was Qin Zhaoyang. In her memory, she had seen that strange man three times. The first time was when she was seven. He gave her a lollipop. The second time was when she was fifteen. He gave her a tissue. And then came the third time... (Don’t think too hard.)
