When Love Fades, I Won't Look Back

On the thirty-fifth day of the cold war with my long-distance boyfriend, he finally swallowed his pride and apologized for the first time, on his birthday.

Moved by that moment, I braved a high fever, took the birthday present I’d bought him, and spent seven hours on a train to reach his city.

When I found him, he had lost a game and was doing a forfeit.

The girl sitting beside him blushed and closed her eyes, waiting for Fu Shilang to kiss her.

Someone nearby suddenly spoke up. “Fu Shilang, aren’t you worried your girlfriend will get jealous?”

Fu Shilang toyed with the cheap watch in his hand and laughed. “What does she matter? She’s poor and hopelessly lovesick. I’ll break up with her sooner or later.”

“Besides, she has a dimwitted father and a sickly grandmother.”

“She’s only dating me for my money, isn’t she? Fine, I’ll give her some.”
