The Fox Spirit's Ordeal: A Nine-Tailed Fox Descends to the Mortal Realm

"A clever, unyielding nine-tailed spirit fox vs. a gentle, devoted, short-lived Imperial Preceptor"

Born with nine tails, the spirit fox Rendong was given a divine decree by the Great Bodhisattva Guanyin at birth: before she turned a thousand, she had to gather eighty-one human tears, and only then would she attain great fortune.

So at the age of nine hundred and ninety, just after learning to take human form, Rendong was mercilessly sent down the mountain by her grandmother, beginning her travels through the human world...

Human desires ran rampant, and the naive nine-tailed Rendong kept changing identities as she gathered human tears. She was the most dedicated mourner at a coffin shop; the sought-after star courtesan of the Jinghua Pavilion; a clever young constable who helped the Supervisory Office solve cases; and a wandering cultivator who witnessed the rise and fall of kingdoms...

Over ten years in the human world, she waded through tangled love and desire. She loved someone, and that person loved her deeply in return.

But when the cruelest truth comes to light, what choice must she make to win a chance at survival? And how long must he kneel and pray before the statue of a god to fulfill that distant wish?
