[Softhearted Assassin VS Overbearing, Cunning Heir of the Duke of Zhenguo]
Five years ago, Shen Zhi spent ten taels of silver to buy two slaves, one big and one small, one mute and one lame. Both were on the brink of death.
She hauled them home on a handcart. Just before they reached the village, the two slaves confessed that they had been faking it!
Five years later, Shen Zhi had become an assassin who didn’t want to kill. How could an assassin possibly avoid killing people?
Shen Zhi did her best to hide her abilities and took only jobs that didn’t require killing.
Then her master, Yi Zhi Hua, brought her back to Pingjing, where she met the slave she had bought for ten taels all those years ago.
The slave had become Xie Yiwen, heir to the Duke of Zhenguo.
Shen Zhi was assigned to spy on the duke’s family.
Five years ago, Xie Yiwen had been ordered to suppress bandits, only to be betrayed by local officials. He and his father’s subordinates had pretended to be slaves being sold, hoping to avoid drawing attention.
One day, as usual, he was pretending to be half-dead while waiting for someone to buy him.
Then he spotted a girl standing timidly behind someone, seemingly trying to eavesdrop on something.
Lying on the ground, he looked up at her carefully and realized she looked a little like the female assassin who had killed him in his previous life.
An idea took shape in Xie Yiwen’s mind. So when she asked the slave broker about the price of slaves, he crawled toward her of his own accord.
The writing is smooth, the storyline is not cumbersome or boring, and it is quite enjoyable to watch.
It's very pretty, not cruel, and the back part is super sweet. 🤦
Damn, don't be too cruel now (´△`). I shed tears several times. I feel so sad for the male lead and the female lead. Oh wow wow wow.
