A renowned statesman named Zhan Shuzi sacrifices the members of a cultivation sect to save his country and its people, gives his life for the cause, and ultimately dies by suicide. Faced with the choice between self-interest and the greater good, he chooses the latter, dooming himself to a tragic life.
