The 1990s Migrant Worker’s Homecoming Startup Plan

"A farmer's greatest achievement is successfully educating their children." From the 1990s into the new millennium, against the sweeping backdrop of reform and opening up, rural revitalization, and poverty alleviation through education, an ordinary farming family in southern Sichuan struggles through the decades: from evading family-planning rules, to working as migrant laborers in the city, running a village shop, and becoming independent food wholesalers in a small town. Through hardship and perseverance, how do they ultimately fulfill their "return-home entrepreneurship plan," improve their family's quality of life and their children's living conditions, and truly make progress as a family?

This story captures the times through the struggles of two generations in a rural family over several decades, as they face conflicts between ideals and reality amid family disputes, marital entanglements, and resistance to education.
