A Splendid Palace: Her Ladyship Is Expecting Again

After spending one night in the emperor’s bed, she is promoted above her station and becomes the talk of the palace.

“Were you tired last night, my beloved consort?”

“If Your Majesty wasn’t tired, then neither was I.”

“I seem to remember someone making quite a fuss last night, saying she’d had enough.”

“Your Majesty is rather different from what I expected.”

“How so?”

“I thought the Son of Heaven would be dignified, but I never imagined Your Majesty would be so wanton in private.”

“How was I wanton?”

“In broad daylight...”

The daughter of the Gu family enters the palace for the sake of her clan. Emperor Ling is suspicious, and she must tread carefully at every turn. But if she cannot have his exclusive love, she will claim the highest position for herself, kill her husband, elevate her son, and seize wealth and glory.
