In 1928, China's National Revolutionary Army was approaching Shandong in its Northern Expedition, and Japan sent troops to occupy Jinan on the grounds of "protecting overseas residents." In the process, the Japanese army caused the "Jinan Massacre" and massacred a large number of Chinese civilians and soldiers.
The story begins with the Jinan Incident and continues until Japan's defeat. It describes the tragic experience of a Chinese and Japanese family during the war, and uses an imaginary plot to show the themes of reflection and anti-war.
The novel relies on real history and uses military history and related folklore facts as clues to advance.
