At an auction, Gu Chang'an took a keen interest in a wolf pup and bought it. But as the two of them spent more time together, Gu Chang'an grew increasingly certain that the pup was no ordinary creature. It was one thing for it to be intelligent, but how could it fight five people at once without breaking a sweat? It even seemed completely at ease, and every move it made was so familiar to Gu Chang'an that she couldn't help thinking of the battle in which the Tianlang and Xuanlong clans joined forces against humanity.
The seed of suspicion took root in Gu Chang'an's mind. Every day, she held the pup as she slept, until one full-moon night, when she spotted a lump beneath the covers. She decisively pulled them back, revealing a face impossible to tell as male or female, with wolf ears atop its head and a wolf tail behind it. Gu Chang'an lifted its chin, and after some intense questioning, it introduced itself simply: “My name is Ling Yan. I'm a descendant of the Tianlang clan.” Then it just stared at Gu Chang'an.
“My name is Gu Chang'an. I'm a descendant of the Xuanlong clan, and I'm an actor in the human world.”
The Xuanlong and Tianlang clans had never gotten along particularly well, but as time went on, Gu Chang'an realized that she had fallen for Ling Yan.
