Flames of Fate

(Xuanxia fantasy, mystery and the supernatural, hidden origins, puzzle-solving adventures, ensemble cast and battles of wits, multiple storylines)

When Lian Geng leaves the mountain, all he wants is to find Gao Yinji. He has no idea that he is stepping into a thousand-year-old game played by the gods.

When the soul-bewitching butterfly behind Shan Zhiyuan awakens beneath the moon; when the Asura nourish the land of the ghost realm with blood.

When the iron hooves of the armies of five nations trample Xiao Chu's royal banner; when the flag of revenge is raised over Longmen.

Holding the discarded divine pill given to him by the Flame God and clutching the fragments of a prophetic scroll, Lian Geng suddenly understands:

The so-called war of annihilation is nothing more than the first blaze in the divine descendants' purge of the human world. That fire is coming for him, and he alone is the variable bound by fate.

Whom should this sword strike down: the gods, or all living beings, as he betrays them once more for her…?

The timeline is told in reverse: Volumes 1, 3, 5, and 6 take place in the present;
