The Underworld is laying people off, so there's no time to judge you. Want to be reincarnated? First clear eighteen apocalyptic dungeons and make it out alive.
Why is the Underworld doing this?
Across the Myriad Worlds, too many people die every day. The traditional Underworld system, with judges flipping through records, ghost bailiffs escorting the dead, and the King of Hell making the final call, has been in place for tens of thousands of years. It's worn everyone out.
· The judges read case files until they're blind, without even getting overtime pay.
· The ghost bailiffs have to watch out for evil spirits escaping while they're being escorted.
· The King of Hell has slapped the table so much his hand cramps, and still gets complaints that he's "unfair."
The key problem is that people are complicated. What if a bad person repents before dying? What if a good person acts like a fool just before death? A record of what they did in life simply isn't enough.
So the Underworld's higher-ups put their heads together. Apocalyptic survival is all the rage in the mortal world these days, with zombies, wastelands, and mutant beasts. Whoever survives to the end is the strongest.
So why not give it a try?
The eighteen levels of hell have been converted into eighteen apocalyptic dungeons. The dead enter and make their way through on their own. Whether they're good or evil, repentant or stubborn to the end, we'll know once they've cleared the dungeons.
