A Hoe Digs Back to 1941: Farming in Nanniwan

An accident in the experimental field caused Wu Long, a student at Huazhong Agricultural University, to travel to Nanniwan, Yan'an in 1941. There are no advanced agricultural machinery here, just barren land and difficult living conditions. Facing the blockade and siege of the Japanese army, he realized that farming was also a war of resistance! As a member of the 359th Brigade, he picked up a hoe and, together with his comrades, used his hands and sweat to turn barren mountains and mountains into fertile farmland and fertile soil. Digging wild vegetables, hunting, making homemade tools, and carrying grain and salt, he used modern agricultural knowledge to lead everyone to develop planting, breeding, and handicraft industries, turning the desolate Nanniwan into a "good Jiangnan" in northern Shaanxi.
